This document contains the definitions for the eleven industries and 53 component
product categories tracked as part of Euromonitor International’s Sustainability system.

Consists of 11 product categories: Baby and Child-Specific Products; Bath and Shower; Colour Cosmetics; Deodorants; Depilatories; Fragrances; Hair Care; Men's Shaving Products; Oral Care; Skin Care; and Sun Care. Black market sales and travel retail (eg, airport duty free) are excluded. |
| 1.1. Baby and Child -Specific Products | Includes products for babies and toddlers aged 0-3 years and products for children under 11 years of age. The range of products includes: Hair care (shampoos, 2-in-1s and conditioners), skin care (oils, creams and lotions), sun care (all sun protection and after-sun products), toiletries (bath products and fragrances), baby wipes (moist wipes, mostly used for cleaning the baby during nappy/diaper changes), medicated products (any products designed specifically for children to treat any skin ailments) and nappy (diaper) rash treatments (all creams and lotions designed specifically to treat nappy/diaper rash in babies and infants. Also includes barrier creams applied to the skin after changing the nappy/diaper). Adult products with a secondary claim such as “suitable for children and sensitive skins” are not included |

Includes perfumed line extensions of mass or premium fragrances if sold individually. Products that are part of a gift set are excluded. |

| 1.6. Fragrances | This is the aggregation of men's, women's and unisex mass and premium fragrances as well as fragrances sets/kits. Also includes hair fragrances with a primary function of making hair smell good and not to be confused with hair oil and other styling/conditioning products with hair fragrances, whose primary function is to either condition or style rather than imbue fragrance. |

| 2. Consumer Health |
Consists of four product categories: OTC; Sports Nutrition; Vitamins and Dietary Supplements (VDS); and Weight Management and Wellbeing. |
| 2.1. OTC |
This is the aggregation of adult mouth care, analgesics, cough, cold and allergy (hay fever) remedies, dermatologicals, digestive remedies, emergency contraception, eye care, NRT smoking cessation aids, sleep aids and wound care. An OTC product is a drug or medicine that may be purchased "over-the-counter" (OTC), without a doctor's prescription or note, for the purposes of self-medication/self-care of a minor ailment. In most of the countries researched, there is a legally defined OTC or non-prescription status; in some others OTC can be known by different names such as pharmacy, general sales list (GSL), non-poison, schedule, classification, class, etc. In a few countries, such as India and Brazil, there is no legally defined OTC status. However, countries without a defined OTC status may work from a “principle of exclusion”, with any drug not on the official prescription or reimbursable drug list potentially being considered OTC or non-prescription. |

This is the aggregation of dog food (including treats and mixers, wet and dry dog food), cat food (including treats and mixers, wet and dry cat food) and other pet food (including prepared and packaged food for pet birds, fish, and small mammals/reptiles). Excludes all agricultural feed, as well as food intended for wild animals. Also excludes any live animals intended to feed pets, as well as unprocessed animal carcasses (eg, mice, insects, mealworms, etc). |

This is the aggregation of bread, pastries, dessert mixes, frozen baked goods, and cakes. Note: Baked goods from in-store bakeries are included and classified under unpackaged/artisanal. While they may be finished on-site, they are often prepared, and then frozen or part-baked, at other locations. Such production models are very important for supermarket in-store bakeries, which have in the past been used to drive traffic and fill stores with appetising aromas, but for which the labour resources required to run a full-service scratch bakery are not always available. |

Includes a variety of productive products for different levels of bladder or bowel adult incontinence. Products with different levels of absorbency are covered, including pads, pants/protective underwear, briefs, undergarments and pant/pad systems. |

| 10.1. Carbonates |
This is an aggregation of cola carbonates and non-cola carbonates, including regular or low-calorie. Euromonitor International includes both naturally and artificially- sweetened carbonates. All carbonated products containing fruit juice (“sparkling juices”) are included here, unless they are tea-based (these are included in RTD tea category) or carbonated Energy drinks, which are included in Energy Drinks (excluded from Passport Sustainability Coverage). Carbonated bottled water is also excluded and covered under Bottled Water. |
